Metal-supported porcelain is obtained by placing porcelain on metal alloy in laboratory environment. Metal-supported porcelain made through utilization of chromium, nickel, cobalt or chromium alloys suitable for the texture of the tooth has high durability due to their interiors.
However, inasmuch as the metal used as interior part is opague it has a matte appearance and a dark color at the gum. As such, metal-supported crowns are generally not recommended for the teeth located in the anterior region and are mostly applied for the back teeth.
